bar, secured by design, energy saving glass, Pilkington k glass, upvc door company, 10 year guarantee, insurance backed guarantee, door hardware, high security and many more….phew even that was enough to make you run away.

You don’t need to worry, we will try our best to explain each element in detail so you can go and purchase a door that suits all your needs.

Choosing a upvc door company that fits the bill

As a consumer in the UK you probably already know that you have many companies to choose from when looking for home improvements. The problem sometimes is choosing a well-established and trust worthy company with a reputable reputation.

We understand how many companies open up for 1 to 2 years then close and re-open under a different name leaving those people with guarantee’s high and dry.

We will explain in more detail guarantee’s in the next section but i would seriously consider the pedigree of the company before signing any contracts. Here are a few things to ask when approaching upvc door companies:

  • Do you offer 10-year guarantee’s on all your upvc doors including all moving parts, glass and frames?
  • Do you have an insurance backed guarantee which will make sure my guarantee is honored should anything happen to the company?
  • How long have you been in the double glazing or upvc door installation business?
  • Are your upvc door fitters CRB checked?
  • Are you members of the GGF (Glass and glazing federation)?
  • Are you Fensa Registered?
  • Are you trust mark registered?

The above list of questions will initially establish if you are dealing with a certified and established company.

10 Year Guarantee and insurance backed guarantee’s

Although 10-year guarantee does sound great you must always check the small print on your contracts and ask the relevant questions. A 10-year guarantee should cover your upvc door frames, the upvc door locking mechanisms, handles, barrels and glass panels.

You should also make sure that your guarantee is insurance backed meaning should anything happen to the company and the company ceases to exist you will still be covered by the insurance backed guarantee.
